Message from the Chief Coroner – Body transportation fees

TO: Ontario Funeral Establishments and Transfer Service Operators
FROM: Dirk Huyer, Chief Coroner for Ontario
RE: Body transportation fees summary document

As a follow up to the May 29, 2019 memo advising of the update to body transportation fees, I am providing you with a summary document for reference purposes. In order to avoid delays in payment, please ensure that your submitted invoice includes the correct fee applicable at the time of the transfer.

For further information on the fees, please reference Ontario Regulation 114/19 under the Coroners Act or the Service Expectations, previously shared in the May 29th memo.

I would also like to take the opportunity to update you with two items related to invoicing:

  1. the previous issue we were experiencing with the HST calculation on the Invoice for Transportation of a Dead Body has been fixed; and
  2. the Government of Ontario requires your CRA Business Number on ALL invoices. If this number is not present, we are unable to process the invoice and it will be returned for resubmission with your Business Number.

Please forward questions to occ.inquiries@ontario.ca

Thank you for you continued support of the Ontario death investigation service and cooperation with the invoicing requirements.
