Update – March 23, 2026 –
Effective March, 17, 2026, the Township of Minden Hills is released from the cease order applied to its licence on or about March 9, 2026. The municipality may resume:
– Offering to sell licensed supplies and\/or services as described in the Act and its Regulations thereunder; and,
– Selling licensed supplies as described in the Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 13, 2026 – <\/strong>
The Registrar of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (the Act) has issued a cease order on the Township of Minden Hills restricting it from any sales of licensed services and supplies at its active cemetery sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Registrar has ordered the municipality to immediately cease the following activities:
– Offering to sell licensed supplies and\/or services as described in the Act and the regulations thereunder; and,
-Selling licensed supplies and\/or services as described in the Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The active sites are: Gelert Cemetery; Minden (St. Paul\u2019s Anglican) Cemetery; Bethel United Church Cemetery; and Twelve Mile Lake Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order was issued as a result of the cemetery operator\u2019s non-compliance with financial reporting requirements. Sales of services and supplies, arranged prior to the March 9, 2026 cease order, may proceed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cease order will remain in effect until further notice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
