{"id":11601,"date":"2026-05-13T12:06:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T16:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/?p=11601"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:06:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T16:06:55","slug":"registrar-orders-a-cemetery-licensee-in-the-niagara-area-to-cease-selling-and-offering-to-sell-licensed-supplies-and-or-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/stage\/registrar-orders-a-cemetery-licensee-in-the-niagara-area-to-cease-selling-and-offering-to-sell-licensed-supplies-and-or-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Registrar orders a cemetery licensee in the Niagara area to cease selling and offering to sell licensed supplies and\/or services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 11, 2026, the Registrar under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA), issued an Order to the Snure Cemetery Incorporated (the Licensee) to cease and desist selling and offering to sell licensed supplies and\/or services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the authority of subsection 109 (7) of Ontario Regulation 30\/11, the Registrar orders the Licensee to immediately cease the following activities: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Offering to sell licensed supplies and\/or services as described in the FBCSA and the regulations thereunder; and,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selling licensed supplies and\/or services as described in the FBCSA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Order includes selling any prepaid services and supplies. As long as the Cease-and-Desist Order is in effect, should any bereavement consumers require at-need services the Licensee may not provide licensed at-need supplies and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure that these sanctions placed on the Licensee have no negative impact on the continuing needs of the Licensee\u2019s existing bereavement consumers, any bereavement consumers who purchased prepaid services and\/or have existing interment rights prior to this Cease-and-Desist Order coming into effect may be provided with the services that were contracted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Order remains in effect until the Licensee has provided the outstanding reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the BAO<\/strong> <br>The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) is a government delegated authority and not-for-profit corporation administering provisions of the\u202fFuneral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002\u202f(FBCSA).\u202fAccountable to the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement and the government, the BAO is responsible for the protection of the public interest.
