{"id":3946,"date":"2021-11-02T14:17:48","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T18:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/?p=3946"},"modified":"2021-11-02T14:22:03","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T18:22:03","slug":"notice-to-the-profession-reminder-changes-to-fbcsa-on-cemetery-care-and-maintenance-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/stage\/notice-to-the-profession-reminder-changes-to-fbcsa-on-cemetery-care-and-maintenance-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Notice to the Profession: Reminder \u2013  Changes to FBCSA on cemetery care and maintenance funds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bereavement Authority of Ontario is reminding licensees of changes to Ontario Regulation 30\/11 under the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/02f33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA)<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;to cemetery care and maintenance funds and accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The changes, which come into force on&nbsp;Jan. 1, 2022, will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Permit non-commercial cemetery operators to access the capital portion of a cemetery care and maintenance fund or account to increase the capacity of a cemetery. This is subject to approval from the Registrar of the BAO, under the condition that the capital is paid back into the trust fund or account. <\/li><li>Increase minimum care and maintenance fund\/account contribution amounts.&nbsp;<strong>Please see the table for additional information,<\/strong>&nbsp;in:<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/CemeteryCareMaintenanceFund_AccountContributionAmountIncreases_effectiveJan1_2022EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English<\/a>; or&nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/CemeteryCareMaintenanceFund_AccountContributionAmountIncreases_effectiveJan1_2022FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">French<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Require the Minister to review the prescribed care and maintenance fund\/account contribution amounts every five years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This message was first sent to licensees on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/notice-to-the-profession-changes-to-the-fbcsa-on-cemetery-care-and-maintenance-funds-licence-display-and-price-lists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">April 9, 2021<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BAO strongly encourages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Municipalities<\/strong>&nbsp;to share this message with&nbsp;cemeteries&nbsp;in their areas, and inform them to send their email addresses or postal addresses to the BAO if they haven\u2019t already.<br>&#8211; Cemeteries can send to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:licensing@thebao.ca\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Licensing@thebao.ca<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Or if no email address, contact us at:&nbsp;<br>BAO, 100 Sheppard Ave East, Suite 505, Toronto, ON M2N 6N5&nbsp; <\/li><li><strong>Funeral establishments<\/strong>&nbsp;to share this message with their local&nbsp;cemeteries, as some do not have email addresses.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Bereavement Authority of Ontario is reminding licensees of changes to Ontario Regulation 30\/11 under the&nbsp;Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA)&nbsp;to cemetery care and maintenance funds and accounts.
