Why is the licensing fee increase so much?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A.\u00a0 <\/strong>It\u2019s the first fee increase for licensees in seven years. The 13.6 per cent increase represents the total of cumulative inflation, as determined by the Consumer Price Index, since the last fee increase by the BAO\u2019s predecessors \u2013 Board of Funeral Services and Cemetery Regulation Unit in 2014. Read the \u201cWhy are the fees being increased\u201d section of <a href=\"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/notice-to-the-profession-fees-increasing-for-the-2023-renewal-year-first-fee-increase-in-seven-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Notice to the Profession<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Q. When does this take effect?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A.<\/strong> The BAO will be increasing fees for the 2023 licence renewal year based on your prior 12 months of activity (number of deaths registered, cremations, scatterings, or interments).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Q.
