{"id":570,"date":"2020-07-06T13:27:43","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T17:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/working.simplistics.ca\/bao\/?p=570"},"modified":"2024-01-04T09:58:05","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T14:58:05","slug":"masks-and-face-coverings-mandatory-at-indoor-funerals-and-visitations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/stage\/masks-and-face-coverings-mandatory-at-indoor-funerals-and-visitations\/","title":{"rendered":"Masks and face coverings mandatory at indoor funerals and visitations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Effective July 8, 2020<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thebao.ca\/the-link-no-longer-exists\/\">Registrar\u2019s Guidance<\/a>&nbsp;issued on June 15, 2020, wearing masks or face coverings is&nbsp;<strong>mandatory for all persons<\/strong>&nbsp;(funeral staff and attendees) inside all funeral establishments or any other indoor setting where a funeral or visitation is held in the following Ontario Health Unit jurisdictions:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Windsor-Essex County<\/li><li>Chatham- Kent<\/li><li>Lambton<\/li><li>Middlesex-London<\/li><li>Haldimand-Norfolk<\/li><li>Niagara<\/li><li>Hamilton<\/li><li>Region of Waterloo<\/li><li>Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph<\/li><li>Halton<\/li><li>Peel<\/li><li>Toronto<\/li><li>York<\/li><li>Simcoe-Muskoka<\/li><li>Durham<\/li><li>Haliburton-Kawartha- Pine Ridge<\/li><li>Leeds-Grenville-Lanark<\/li><li>Ottawa<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wearing of masks or face coverings is&nbsp;<strong>strongly urged<\/strong>&nbsp;in all other areas of the province.<br><br><em><strong>Your face covering protects them. Their face covering protects you.<\/strong><\/em><br><br>Why you and your attendees should wear masks or face coverings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>COVID-19 loves mass indoor gatherings.<a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/24f65445d7a1\/registrars-directive-masks-face-coverings-mandatory-indoors?e=65ae788b71#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0It spreads among people who are in close contact with one another (within about two metres or six feet).<\/li><li>The nature of funerals makes physical distancing difficult, if not impossible. Funerals are about mourning, comforting, consoling; there are hugs, tears, and runny noses.<\/li><li>COVID-19 can be spread by people who do not have symptoms and do not know that they are infected.\u00a0<\/li><li>It is spread by respiratory droplets when someone speaks, coughs or sneezes.<a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/24f65445d7a1\/registrars-directive-masks-face-coverings-mandatory-indoors?e=65ae788b71#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/li><li>Masks and cloth face coverings provide a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air.<\/li><li>Recent research shows that wearing a mask significantly helps in preventing the spread of the virus.<a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/24f65445d7a1\/registrars-directive-masks-face-coverings-mandatory-indoors?e=65ae788b71#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All funeral and visitation notices must state the requirement to wear masks or face coverings in the jurisdictions listed.
