Continuing Education for Personal Licensees
Welcome to the Bereavement Authority of Ontario’s Continuing Education for Personal Licensees information page.
Licensees are required to complete a minimum of six hours of continuing education to be eligible for renewal of their licences each year.
Our Continuing Education for Personal Licensees Policy states the rules clearly. Read the policy here.
The policy describes the types of programs and organizations whose programs are, or can be, eligible for approval by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) for continuing education credits for personal licensees. Qualifying courses are identified as either Category A or Category B content. Of the six education hours required, at least four must be from Category A and two may be from Category B. Read the policy for details.
All courses must be approved by the BAO.
Here are links to approved courses from the providers indicated.
Application Form PDF for CE Credit Approval
Below is the link to the application form for education providers seeking required BAO approval of their CE courses.
Education providers, including bereavement sector operators and regional funeral service associations, wishing to offer courses that are not pre-approved may complete and submit the form and supporting documentation to the BAO at Education@TheBAO.ca for approval prior to offering the course to licensees.
Please allow up to 30 days for a written decision as to whether the course is approved. Once a course is approved, the course details will be added to the list of BAO-Approved CE Courses. Individual licensees, please note: The BAO is not accepting approval requests for CE credits from individual licensees for courses they have seen elsewhere.
