Licences revoked: Baldock Funeral Home, South Coast Funeral and Cremation Alternatives, Paul Taylor

Update – The Baldock Funeral Home has abandoned its appeal of the Proposal to Revoke as of Feb. 5, 2021. As a result, The BAO is proceeding with the revocation of Funeral Director – Class 1 licence of Paul Taylor, and the Funeral Establishment Operator – Class 1 licences of The Baldock Funeral Home Inc., and South Coast Funeral and Cremation Alternatives Inc.

On January 10, 2020, the Registrar, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (the “Act”) issued a Notice of Proposal to Revoke the licence of The Baldock Funeral Home Inc. (Licence Number 427) (the “licensee”) as a Funeral Establishment Class – 1.

The intention and objective of the Act is to protect the public interest. In doing so, the Act requires that applicants carry on business in accordance with the law and with integrity and honesty, and that they be financially responsible in the conduct of business. The Registrar has reasons to believe that the conduct of the licensee is inconsistent with the intention and objective of the Act.

Further pursuant to Section 19 of the Act, the Registrar considers an immediate suspension to be a matter of public interest and accordingly has, by order, suspended the Funeral Establishment licence of The Baldock Funeral Home Inc., effective immediately.
