Licence renewal fee:

As per a previous BAO notice, on July 1, 2023, the BAO increased its operator licensing renewal fees to $30 per interment, scattering, cremation, hydrolysis and death registration, including those under social services programs. Exception: As in previous years, if you conducted less than 10 interments and/or scatterings in total in your cemetery(ies), the licensing renewal fee is waived, but you must still send in your completed ALR form.

For this renewal period, the licensing renewal fee will be a combination of the previous year’s fees ($17.04 base fee, plus $13.63 per burial/cremation activity conducted in the first half of the 2023 calendar year) and the new fees that became effective on July 1, 2023 ($30 per activity conducted in the second half of the calendar year). You will find answers to frequently asked questions about the new fees on our website at

For cemetery operators that have a total of less than 10 activities: You will notice that after having entered zero activities for both time periods, it will appear that you owe $17.04, as underlined in red in the below screenshot from the online renewal form. Please ignore this total and instead refer to the Payment Amount shown in the yellow-highlighted section. Select “Cheque” as your “Payment Type” and then click on “Submit and Pay.”
