Registrar issues Notice of Proposal to Refuse to Renew the licence of a cemetery operator

The Registrar, of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (the Act), has issued a Notice of Proposal to Refuse to Renew the cemetery operator licence of Husiatner Klaus Beth Israel Cemetery in Toronto.

The Registrar has alleged that the cemetery is in contravention of the Act, and that the cemetery is not entitled to licensure because the past conduct of the cemetery board’s manager affords reasonable grounds for belief that the cemetery operations will not be carried on in accordance with the law and with integrity and honesty.

The cemetery board’s manager was served with notice on October 3, 2025. To date, no Notice of Appeal has been served on the Registrar.
