Notice to the Profession: Changes to our process for paying your licence renewals

As part of modernizing and improving our processes, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) has updated how we receive your payments for all licence renewals and applications.

We now only accept two (2) methods of payment for all licence renewals and applications: 

• Credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard etc.) can only be made online through the BAO’s Licensing Portal, which uses PayPal as a PCI compliant payment gateway to ensure a secure transaction; or, 
• By cheque payable to Bereavement Authority of Ontario

We have also removed the credit card authorization form for licensees from our website and have stopped accepting payment by credit card for any licence applications or renewals outside of our secure portal or by cheque.

We have made these recent changes as per the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). PCI DSS is a worldwide mandatory fraud-prevention protocol for businesses and organizations that store, process, or transmit credit or debit card information. PCI DSS applies to the handling of data from licensees’ credit cards and BAO credit cards.  

In implementing these changes, we are further protecting and securing your licensee information and BAO data.
